Welcome from the Principal
As a small, rural Primary, Bridestowe prides itself on its warm and welcoming atmosphere and its strong connections with the local community.
Bridestowe has provided education for the local community for over 150 years. The original Trust Deed establishing the school in 1862 by the Church of England, recognised the importance of learning long before the main Education Act of 1870. Today, Bridestowe provides a broad and balanced curriculum which focuses upon the children's knowledge, skills and wider cultural development. Our School has the highest expectations of each child and we encourage our pupils to achieve academically and to become active contributors to society. Learning is a lifelong process and we aim to place sound foundations for all our pupils to gain success in their future lives. Bridestowe Primary is part of is part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust, which comprises of 17 schools. We believe that working together allows us to share our strengths and aim for excellence. Our Location
Bridestowe Primary School is in the centre of the village of Bridestowe and at the heart of the local community. Education has been provided on this site since the 1860s. We currently have a roll of 90 children aged between 4 and 11 years.
Set in spacious grounds on the edge of Dartmoor National Park - the school is part of the DMAT Moorland Hub, a group of five local schools working in close collaboration - Boasley Cross, Bridestowe, Lydford, Milton Abbot and Northlew Primary schools. Our policies are that of the Moorland Hub and these can be found here. The individual Principals work closely together to oversee the best possible learning opportunities for our children. We have an excellent link with 'Treetops' pre-school - also located in the village.
