OFSTED
We are delighted to share the positive outcomes from our recent Ofsted inspection. Inspectors recognised many strengths across the school and highlighted the caring, inclusive and ambitious environment that makes Bridestowe Primary such a special place to learn.
What Ofsted praised
⭐ Our school community and inclusive ethos - Inspectors found that pupils are proud of their school and described it as a "kind and welcoming place to learn". The report highlights the school's strong culture of inclusion, where pupils celebrate differences and treat everyone with respect. Parents, pupils and staff all spoke positively about the nurturing ethos of the school.
⭐ Safeguarding - Ofsted confirmed that safeguarding standards are fully met. Pupils feel safe in school, and staff have created an open culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
⭐ Early Years provision - Reception children were recognised as getting an "impressive start" to their education. Inspectors praised the inclusive learning environment, children's curiosity and confidence, and the excellent preparation pupils receive for Year 1. Outcomes in early years and phonics were noted as being above average.
⭐ Reading and the curriculum
Reading was identified as a real strength, with phonics taught precisely and pupils developing a love of reading. Inspectors praised our ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum and noted that pupils enjoy learning, especially in subjects such as history and art.
⭐ Behaviour, attendance and wellbeing - Pupils behave well, show respect for one another and have a strong sense of belonging. Attendance is high, and children want to come to school. Inspectors noted that there are no concerns about bullying and that pupils trust staff to support them.
⭐ Opportunities beyond the classroom - Ofsted recognised the rich range of clubs, trips, residential visits and leadership opportunities available to pupils. These experiences help broaden pupils' understanding of the world and develop their confidence and independence.
⭐ Support for pupils with additional needs - Staff were praised for their detailed knowledge of pupils and their swift identification of SEND and other barriers to learning. Inspectors found that support for pupils with additional needs is effective and helps close gaps in learning.
We are incredibly proud that Ofsted recognised Bridestowe Primary School as a caring, inclusive and ambitious school where children flourish. Thank you to our pupils, staff, governors and trustees, trust colleagues and families for the important part you play in making our school such a positive and successful community. Together, we look forward to building on these strengths and continuing to provide the very best education for every child.

Parent View
Ofsted encourages parents to give their views about the school. Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected. Ofsted will use the information you provide when making decisions about which schools to inspect and when.
